Today's offering showcases this superior Certified Pre-Owned Rolex Oysterdate Precision with gray dial.
It is an uncommon and very early Oysterdate Precision - the 6294 served as one of the predecessors to the more often seen 6694. Stylish and elegant, the watch features the dates in red.
It measures 34mm in diameter - the size of a Rolex Date model. It has the look of a solid gold Rolex for a fraction of the cost.
The Oysterdate Precision have become desirable non-sport vintage Rolex watches because their understated and classic design contrast the "busier" look of some of the modern Rolex watches. It's a watch that is at home being worn everyday or only for special occasions. Produced from the early 1950's into the 1980's, it was a strong commercial success for Rolex, winning a large following.
Powering the watch is its original Rolex Caliber 740 handwound movement with early shock resistance. Unlike most later Oysterdates that for several decades came fitted with 1200 series movements, this came with an early handwound movement one associates with their Art Deco movements and watches from the '40's. It served as the base movement for their early Perpetual watches, like the Bubblebacks, which added the automatic winding to the base engine. It features their patented Super Balance system and was even originally adjusted to two positions.
All of its parts are 100% Rolex.
It has just finished a true expertly done restoration. It presents in gorgeous condition - our photos couldn't do it justice.
Its case presents as gorgeous mint, including its back which wasn't pictured. Its wonderful dial with cool inset markers has been meticulously refinished - its printing could pass as Rolex factory done to the naked eye. And its handwound Rolex movement is running incredibly strong and true.
As part of the restoration a Master Watchmaker has fully serviced the watch which consists of fully disassembling the movement, carefully inspecting each part, replacing any overly worn components with new Rolex parts, reassembling and lubricating the movement, and extensive timing testing and regulation (a $695 value).
Amazingly after nearly 70 years, it is keeping time on par with a brand new Rolex in our testing position.
For the finishing touch we have equipped it with a brand new calfskin leather strap making it ready for immediate enjoyment.
Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. international warranty on the movement and its function, a full-page custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate.
